The Farm
How It Started
In 2007 after years searching for our piece of country heaven, we purchased land in Central Kentucky that today makes up our four hundred acre farm. Hunting, swimming and fishing are a few of the things we love doing. A large portion of the land is rolling hills covered with timber. However, we own several acres of pasture land as well. With the addition of a few horses, the first small steps were taken toward what we are today, a small family owned farm. Of course, with the many hills and many rocks found on our farm, the farm practically named itself!
What We Do
Never ones to shy away from a new experience, we have moved into areas of farming that we were often unfamiliar with. In the past eight years, we have managed to acquire several trail horses. We raise and sell our own grass fed beef. In addition to our horses and cattle, we also breed and sell boer goats. Other items produced on the farm for sale include maple syrup tapped from our own maple trees and made right here on the farm. We raise our own honey bees and sell fresh, local honey.
What's Next?
Rock Hills Farm is always looking for new ways to expand and enter the local food market. Currently we are working to bring our small orchard and garden up to speed in order to sell fresh fruit and vegetables locally. This includes several varieties of apples, peaches, and pears along with grapes, blackberries, blueberries and raspberries. Long term goals include the addition of chickens for meat and egg production. In addition, we are researching the goat cheese market.
